Diese Norm legt die Bedingungen zur Herstellung der Probekörper in einem spezifizierten Status und die zur Bestimmung der Eigenschaften von PVC-Polymeren anzuwendenden Prüfmethoden fest. Anfoderungen an die Behandlung des Probematerials und für das Konditionieren des Probematerials vor der Prüfung sind ebenfalls enthalten. Eigenschaften und Prüfmethoden, die anwendbar und notwendig sind, um PVC-Polymere zu charakterisieren, sind aufgelistet. Um reproduzierbare und vergleichbare Prüfergebnisse zu erhalten, müssen die hier festgelegten Bedingungen der Probenvorbereitung und -konditionierung sowie die festgelegten Prüfverfahren angewendet werden. Die gemessenen Werte müssen nicht notwendigerweise mit denen identisch sein, die bei Verwendung andersartiger Proben oder solchen, die mit einem anderen Verfahren hergestellt wurden, erhalten werden.
