Diese Internationale Norm legt ein gravimetrisches Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Platin in Platinschmucklegierungen fest, vorzugsweise innerhalb eines Reinheitsbereichs wie in ISO 9202 festgelegt.
Diese Legierungen können Palladium, Iridium, Rhodium, Kupfer, Kobalt, Gold, Nickel, Ruthenium, Gallium, Chrom, Indium und weniger als 5 % Wolfram enthalten. Es sind einige Änderungen angezeigt, wenn Palladium, Iridium, Rhodium, Gold, oder Ruthenium enthalten sind.
