Diese Technische Spezifikation legt zwei horizontale Verfahren zum Nachweis der pathogenen Bioserotypen von Y. enterocolitica und ein Verfahren zum Nachweis von Y. pseudotuberculosis mit der Real-time-Polymerase-Kettenreaktion (PCR) fest. Die beschriebenen Verfahren ermöglichen den Nachweis der beiden Pathogene in Anreicherungen und die Isolierung von Kolonien. Y. pestis, der maßgebliche Erreger der Beulen- und Lungenpest, besitzt ebenfalls eine Variante des ail-Gens und wird mit dem gleichen Primer/Sonden-Set wie Y. pseudotuberculosis nachgewiesen. Jedoch kommen Y. pestis üblicherweise nicht in Lebensmitteln vor. Diese Technische Spezifikation ist anwendbar auf Produkte für den menschlichen Verzehr, Futtermittel und Umweltproben.
