Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Gesamt-Alpha- und Gesamt-Beta-Aktivität in nicht-salzhaltigem Wasser durch alpha- und beta-emittierende Radionuklide fest.
Das Verfahren ist auf die Analyse von Grund- und Trinkwasser mit geringen Anteilen an gelösten Stoffen anwendbar. Nach entsprechender Anpassung kann es auch für andere Wasserarten angewendet werden.
Der Anwendungsbereich hängt von der Menge an gelöster Materie im Wasser und von den Leistungseigenschaften (Zählrate des Nulleffekts und Zählausbeute) des Messgeräts ab.
