Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM gilt für Laborprüfungen zur Messung der toxischen Bestandteile in flüchtigen Verbrennungsprodukten aus elektrotechnischen Produkten oder aus in elektrotechnischen Produkten verwendeten Werkstoffen. Er ist ein Leitfaden zur Anwendung und Interpretation der Ergebnisse aus Labor-prüfungen. Er enthält gegenwärtig bekannte Ansätze zur Beurteilung der toxischen Gefahr entsprechend dem Ansatz von ISO/TC92 SC3, gemäß ISO 13344, ISO 13571, ISO 16312-1, ISO 16312-2, ISO 19701, ISO 19702 und ISO 19706. Er ist ebenfalls ein Leitfaden für die Verwendung von Daten über das toxische Potenzial für die Gefahrenbeurteilung sowie für Grundsätze, die der Information über Brennbarkeit und Toxikologie für die Gefahrenbeurteilung zugrunde liegen.
