Um den Verbraucher bei seiner Auswahl zu unterstützen, enthält diese Internationale Norm ein
Klassifizierungssystem auf Basis der Nutzungsintensität, das zeigt, wo für diese elastischen Bodenbeläge ein
zufriedenstellender Nutzen möglich ist.
Der Begriff ´´Linoleum´´ wird häufig fälschlicherweise auch für andere Bodenbeläge, oft für solche auf Basis von
Polyvinylchlorid oder Elastomeren, verwendet. Derartige Materialien sind nicht in dieses Dokument
eingeschlossen.
