Dieser Teil der IEC 61978 gilt für passive Lichtwellenleiter-Kompensatoren mit chromatischer Dispersion. Diese besitzen folgende allgemeine Merkmale:
- Sie sind optisch passiv;
- sie besitzen einen optischen Eingangs- und einen optischen Ausgangsanschluss zur Übertragung der optischen Leistung;
- die Anschlüsse sind Lichtwellenleiter (LWL) oder Lichtwellenleiter-Steckverbinder;
- sie sind wellenlängenabhängig;
- sie können polarisationsabhängig sein.
Diese Norm legt einheitliche Anforderungen für passive Kompensatoren mit chromatischer Dispersion fest.
