Es handelt sich um Bestimmungen und Prüfmethoden für ungebrauchte Mineralöle, welche für den Gebrauch in Kabeln mit Ölkanälen bestimmt sind. Im Besonderen betrifft dies Kabel mit hohlem Kern, Kabel vom Rohrtyp und andere Kabel, die für einen Öldurchfluß bestimmt sind. Diese Öle werden durch Destillation und Raffination von Petroleum gewonnen. Öle mit und ohne Zusatzstoffe sind ebenfalls Gegenstand dieses Dokuments. Nicht anwendbar ist diese Bestimmung auf Öl in Transformatoren, Schaltern, Kapazitäten und ähnliche Geräte.
