Die vorliegenden Norm legt werksseitig im Zweischicht-Verfahren aufgebrachte extrudierte Polyethylenbeschichtungen fest, die dem Korrosionsschutz von Rohren und Rohrleitungsteilen dienen. Eine extrudierte Polyethylenbeschichtung kann zum Schutz erd- oder wasserverlegter Rohre bei Betriebstemperaturen bis +60 °C für Typ 1 und +30 °C für Typ 2 angewendet werden. Nach dieser Norm können Beschichtungen auf längs- oder spiralgeschweißte sowie auf nahtlose Stahlrohre und Rohrleitungsteile aufgebracht werden, die zum Bau von Rohrleitungen für Flüssigkeiten oder Gase vorgesehen sind. Rohre, die auf diese Art mit Polyethylen beschichtet wurden, dürfen außerdem einen kathodischen Schutz erhalten.
